short story collections are always a bit hit and miss, but some of these truly disturbed me.

A little Palahniuk every once in a while is good, and this was too much for me to bear. Some of these stories were actually really good and funny, others were just too much. It's okay tho because I read them to exercise my reading skills.

Good but too sexual for me. Some stories are now my Roman empire.
Palahniuk writes a lot of great stories here, but there are a few serious duds amongst them. He takes some stylistic risks which pay of great in Liturgy but not so much in Eleanor. Some of the stories are unforgettable, living up to the subtitle. I will probably come back to this anthology at some point, likely skipping my least favorites as not to spoil the fun.
There were definitely some interesting stories in here, with non traditional tellings.
Well but some are truly disgusting. One actually made me gag.
Better than his latest novels, for sure, but some of the stories are just ... Meh. Without any energy or life in them. Some of them, on the other hand, are really good. So it's a nice read after all.
All of the stories in this collection are hit-or-miss. While stories like "How Monkey got Married...," "Zombies," "Torcher," and "Inclinations" evoke the familiar Palahniuk wit and subversion, the rest are very forgettable and some are even straight-up boring. The writing style shifts so much from chapter to chapter that the entire thing feels very disjointed, and doesn't read well. It's easy to see how some of the pieces would have been better appreciated in their lonesome - and, in fact, many of them were previously published in magazines - but they just don't work alongside each other. Make Something Up reads exactly like the title suggests - as if, through contractual obligation, Palahniuk had to hastily bundle something together for his publisher. If [b:Fight Club 2 #1|25612461|Fight Club 2 #1|Chuck Palahniuk|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1432758282s/25612461.jpg|45423577] hadn't been so good, my faith in Palahniuk would be likely be irreversibly shaken.
