Pretty standard Palahniuk. You know if this is for you or not. I loved the range of stories from anthropomorphic animals pushing free samples to conversion camp revenge tales. Each story was fresh and exciting enough to keep me interested, without being too long when the joke/premise had ran its course. Palahniuk gives his fans what they want: gross body horror'esq descriptions, disturbing moralities, and social satire for days. This is a nice beach/bathroom read, don't expect anything more from it. Top tier stories: "Zombies", "Red Sultan's Big Boy", "Torcher".

The collection as a whole earns three stars for me, because several of the later stories were great, but many stories are just over-the-top attempts at winning points for shock value. Even for Palahniuk, they were too obscene for my taste.

Insane collection of stories as is typical of Chuck. By far the great story was the second last one about the conversion facility. Like any story collection there's some that don't feel like they quite work, but there was more than enough to keep me riveted.

mainly t(w)eenage promiscuity, daddy issues, death, and la société de consommation.

des exercices de style que j'ai bien aimé (The Facts of Life) et some that I hated (Eleanore). it's hard to rate because i found it très hétéroclite, and it is more agréable à lire au fur et à mesure qu'on s'habitue au style. He writes very clearly, and the stories are all quite easy to visualize and to feel. He has a penchant pour les choses sales et moches, et je pense au début it feels like choquer pour choquer mais as you get used to the themes you get what he's doing, and there's no debate he's good at his craft. Still, there's a lot I disliked, some I liked, and, worst of all, some were just kinda boring.

highlights for me are Loser, Torcher, Expedition and Inclinations. Inclinations in particular, I might come back and talk about my feelings on it in more detail. also ! didn't expect the tyler durden cameo to be this type of story, and yet the second he's introduced i asked myself if this was it

Read, breathe... Re-read.

Palahniuk please. I've been trying to defend your work for months and months to everyone I know and no one will give me the time of day and you just keep putting out more bullshit like this. I LIKE your style and your work but at this rate everyone's saying they won't even read Fight Club, or Haunted, and if they won't read that they certainly will not try with this (not that they should).
It's truly an author getting too high on his supply with this stuff.
