As I recall, I was pretty lukewarm on Allie Finkle when this series began. I don't know if it's actually gotten better, or if it's pretty consistent and I was just in a different mood when I read the second and third book. Whatever the case, I really enjoyed them and thought they were super fun and had great appeal for the audience. They're pretty much perfect for readers who are moving from Clementine and Ivy and Bean, on to longer chapter books. I love the supporting characters and found Allie's voice fun and appealing and not-at-all annoying (which I don't think was the case with the first book - maybe I'm just used to it).
