This book is awesome & emotional. It deals with very challenging themes, namely sexual violence against girls and women, so take care when reading. Manisha, the main character, is incredible and so powerful. Her story is one that many women can identify with, although steeped in mythology. I loved the Indian & Greek mythology central to the story (Naga & Medusa retellings). Also, there’s absolutely no room for forgiveness for violent men in this book, and I love it.

I can’t wait for book 2 to see what Manisha’s sisters have been doing 👀

This is a mixture of Indian myths and the Medusa myth. I really enjoyed it. Manisha (Medusa) is raped and thrown out of the temple. She turns into a Naga, with venomous blood, which can turn men into stone. Pratyush is the last Slayer, aka monster killer.

They met when Manisha was still living in the temple, and Pratyush fell in love with her. Pratyush is sent by the king to kill the Naga who is "terrorizing" the kingdom, but he doesn't know its the love of his life.

There was parts of the story that could have used a better editor, but overall, I liked it enough to read book 2.
