I have this very odd connection with Wales that I cannot rationalize or account for, especially since I have only been there once, and that was more than 20 years ago. All I can put it down to is I might have some Welsh ancestry I don't know about.

I've been wanting to read The Mabinogion for a long time. What is it? Its a corpus of Welsh Mythology, that's what! It is like Beowulf and the Arthurian legends rolled into one.

It is strange, bizzare, sometimes a little disturbing but still a joy to read. A unique set of stories from a unique country.

Dnfed it at 20% not going to count it at my monthly or yearly reads. I might come back to this at one point but I'm not in the right headspace for the way the text is. Struggled getting anything out of it.

A wonderful collection of tales from medieval Wales that were gathered together and published in the 19th century after being translated by Lady Charlotte Guest. The tales range from themes from Celtic mythology, Arthurian romance, and some fascinating interpretation of British Isles history.
