First off, i'm sorry because this is going to be less of a review and more of me just pouring my thoughts and emotions out about this book..and there are quite a lot of emotions I am feeling about this wonderful story.

Where does one even begin when they read something so beautiful, so breathtaking but also so very, very breathtaking? [b:Wolfsong|29233804|Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1)|T.J. Klune|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1463862865s/29233804.jpg|49474397] has been sitting on my to-read shelf for quite a bit now — and I truly think it's time for me to stop holding myself back from reading things that I think are going to tear me open from the inside because, oh god, this book was extraordinary. It was everything. I felt everything. The love, the loss. My heart thumped happily to the beat of the wolves tails and throbbed when so much agony filled the pages I thought I was going to explode.

And, despite that carrying on to through the book felt a bit like this at times :

I carried on because I adored every single thing about this book. The story. The world. The characters most of all. I adored every single one of them ( and despised the not so great ones ). There were A LOT of characters but somehow I didn't get overwhelmed at all..it felt RIGHT. Every single one of them made the story so great — and I got attached to quite a few of them. And, boy, did it hurt when things were not so great.

The romance between Ox and Joe was a beautiful thing in itself. The way it developed over the years. The way it all played out.

They were beautiful together. Beautiful apart too. And, Ox's character as a whole...he was special and I rooted so desperately for his happy ending. All of them deserve a beautiful, happy ending but Ox...deserves so much.

Moral of the story is I am never again going to hold myself back from reading something. I'm always going to take the plunge even if my soft heart is shaking in fright of what's to come. Because, Wolfsong made me cry yes. I mean I full on sobbed a couple times (especially towards the end) but i also laugh.I smiled. I loved. I just felt it all and it was wonderful.

Thank you [a:T.J. Klune|5073330|T.J. Klune|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1313526173p2/5073330.jpg] for writing such a moving book. It was wonderful.

“You don’t get to decide what you’re worth because you obviously don’t know. You don’t get to decide that anymore because you have no fucking idea that you’re worth everything.”

I was stuck between 3 or 4 stars for this.... I went with 4 so the Instagays didn't come for!

Overall I had a great time with this and am definitely interested to see where the series goes. That being said... I wasn't obsessed with a big chunk of this. I found it a little repetitive and it was a lot of the author telling us things, rather than showing us. I think this improved in the last 150 pages or so though.

Its amazing to see how much Klune has grown as an author when comparing this to his newer books.

You just can't beat a bit of T.J Klune - he is definitely an auto-buy author for me!

This is a twilight fanfic from the POV of the werewolves and if everyone was gay. Considering that twilight isn’t a masterpiece already a fanfic of it is downright terrible. The pacing is all over the place. There is no narrative arc. The character development goes in circles. Same as the plot. The villain is gimmicky and has unclear motivations. No character has a distinctive voice, Ox is annoying and Jo is a child. Literally. The age gap is all kinds of wrong. 10 and 16? Why. And they get together when it’s 17 and 23? Was it really that hard for TJ Kline to type in 18? Not that it makes is much better but it’s already fucked up as it is with the imprinting of Jo on Ox at 10yo… there was literally NO REASON for this. And then Jo is away for 3 years of his adult life. And the whole last 200 pages are how they’re still mad at each other, achieved nothing of what they were meant to while they were apart and everyone is generally just crying all the time because they can’t fuck the person they want right this instance.

This is poorly written, dialogues are stilted and stiff and the narrative is meandering at best but mostly all over the place and looping in circles. It’s unedited and feels like it’s been taken straight from a (bad) wattpad story. Everything and everyone is cringe or icky. This is the epitome of men will do anything but go to therapy. Ox gives me major man with a podcast vibe (and not in a good way).

Overall, long, bland, boring, cringe and quite not ok. I’m DNFing this series.

“Wolfsong” is, without a doubt, the best werewolf fantasy romance I’ve ever read. It’s got everything you could want in a werewolf romance—an immersive world, intense pack dynamics, and a love story that will sweep you off your feet. But what sets this book apart is how masterfully T.J. Klune weaves themes of loss, grief, betrayal, and life into the narrative, creating an emotional depth that is rarely seen in the genre. Every page resonates with raw, heartfelt emotion, and you’ll find yourself deeply invested in the characters and their journey. It’s not just a story about werewolves; it’s a profound exploration of what it means to love and live after devastating loss. If you’re a fan of werewolf romance with substance, “Wolfsong” is an absolute must-read.
