This book reminded me of the camp I grew up going to and all of the love I had for that place. I started attending at the age of 6 and eventually got to be a counselor years later. Camp magic is definitely real and this book brought it back to me.

I am a sucker for a camp setting, and I do love the emphasis that Goodman puts on female friendships and their many layers/intricacies. I did enjoy Goldie's story, although it definitely felt like less of a mystery than promised and she was a rather boring main character at times. Overall, a solid third book from Goodman, who has solidified into an author I will continue to read.

This book feels like such wasted potential. The cover and blurb of this book made me feel as though I was going to get a much more twisty story about an elite summer camp. While the setting for this book was so great I feel so much more could have been done with the setting/setup of this book. The “twist” left much to be desired and I probably would have rather read a book with slasher vibes in a summer camp setting much more. If you’re just looking for a quick and easy YA mystery this will do the trick but overall it’s pretty forgettable.
