I haven’t decided if I want to give this a 3 or a 3.5, but I absolutely loved the first half of this book. The build up was 5 stars. And the vibeeeesss were so good. I loved this scene the author set. The ending was a let down though, and it was over super fast.
I literally just starting the book at 5/6 today lol. It’s been a while since I read an entire book in basically one sitting.

Thank you @penguinteen for the gifted book and swag.
Jessica Goodman is so good at writing YA thrillers. The Counselors is the 3rd book I’ve read by her and I was hooked from the start.
I love when mysteries/thrillers are set in summer camp. Jessica gave us so many details about the camp that I could picture myself there. This is a great book to read by the lake/beach.
Goldie lives in a small town where nothing exciting ever happens.
Goldie's parents have been working at a camp for rich kids ever since she was a kid, giving her a chance to stay there during the summer. Goldie is now old enough to be a counselor herself, along with her two best friends Imogen and Ava.
The author does a great job at weaving the past and present so seamlessly. I loved being able to understand why Goldie was keeping secrets from everyone.
My favorite part about the book was the friendship between Goldie and her friends Imogen and Ava. Friends for 10 years they are practically sisters.
The mystery was not what I was expecting. I usually solve them immediately but this one took me a lot longer. It’s not a big shock but still a good twist.
Things I didn’t love: the cover is a bit misleading. It gave me slasher vibes but while it is a thriller it’s definitely not a slasher. I love the cover just not for this story.
Also the romance aspect. I found it to be super toxic and I didn’t love it.
I’m looking forward to her next book! Highly recommend it for a summer day.
