Love a good summer camp mystery! This was definitely somewhat predictable but made for a good story.

This was a pretty good young adult mystery. I loved the summer camp setting of this book. Although this was a slow burn mystery, there was a lot packed into the pages of this book. I appreciated this book’s dual timeline and how we switched timelines pretty much every chapter. The short chapters of the past timeline gave me just enough history to keep me intrigued throughout the book as I slowly learned more about the characters and the mystery. I didn’t particularly love any of the characters in this book and found the pacing a bit to slow for my personal preference, but overall this was a very good young adult mystery. If you like ya slow burn mysteries and summer camp settings you may want to give this one a try.
It’s been a rough six months for Goldie Eastman but it’s summer camp time and a time for her to put the past behind her. Or so she thinks. She, along with her best friend Ava and Imogen are counselors at the famous Camp Alpine Lake, a summer camp for the rich and famous. Just before the kids arrive, a body is found in the lake and Goldie knows him. Heller is Goldie’s ex-boyfriend and part of the deep dark secret she’s been keeping from Ava and Imogen. Goldie is faced with needing to confess what’s been going on while searching for clues on Heller’s death. This book latched on and took me for a wild ride. I couldn’t put it down and needed to know what happened. Read it in about three hours and it was such a great read. Highly recommend it.

this one had good bones (summer camp! townies + campers! a trio of bffs! teen drama! secrets!) but it fell a bit flat for me, feeling slow and not quiiiiite as twisty as i was expecting. my mind spun off so many side plots that i honestly think would have made this one a stunner. 💁🏼♀️ the ending let me down sadly! anyone else agree?!
Murder mystery at a sleep-away camp in Vermont. I mean, that’s a fun plot. And this was fun to read. A bit silly and ridiculous at the end. The motive felt weak. Mostly, I’m disturbed by how much underage drinking these camp counselors engage in. It seemed highly unnecessary to the plot and like, why are all you counselors coming back to camp totally sloshed and allowed to take care of children?!
