That being said, and despite the high rating, I don’t think I’ll continue reading this series cause this book was just too heartbreaking.

This Ends Now is the second book in the Detective Sheridan Holler series by T.M. Payne. I like Detective Holler and can’t wait to see how this series progresses. I will say that this one didn’t hold my attention as well as the first one (that is probably more me than the book) but it is still good. I don’t know what is next for Detective Holler but I am ready to go along for the ride!

After receiving this audio-book as an ARC, I discovered there was a previous book in the series. I made it a priority to read the first one, and I'm so glad I did! However, you can definitely enjoy this one on as a stand-alone. I'm really enjoying this series and eagerly looking forward to book #3. Just a heads-up: be sure to check the trigger warnings for this book/audio-book, as it addresses sensitive topics.
As for the narrator, I generally listen to audiobooks at 2x speed, and must say I really enjoyed the narrator's voice and her ability to switch it up for different characters.
Overall, it's a very enjoyable and entertaining read that I highly recommend!

Payne starts with a cold case reminiscent of the one her main character Det. Holler is acutely effected by because of her own, personal cold case, and progresses with two bizarre murders, suspects that don't act the way they should, and an every evolving storyline. Sidelines involving characters surrounding Holler promise further drama in future books.
The layers revealed during the solving of the murders will leave many readers stunned, and they help cement Payne's position as one of today's finest thriller writers. The book is absolutely brilliant!
