There was something about this book that my soul desperately needed, even if I didn’t know it. I bought this book on a whim from Barnes and Noble when it was $10 and because I liked the cover.

I had a sibling with a cancer. I was much younger than the sisters is this book, but I get it. Jayne… dear, you are so relatable. I love how this book is told from her perspective and not June’s (the sister that has the cancer), because the sibling point of view on it is so important. She also had other things going on her life: men, drinking, an eating disorder, rent…. it’s so so… Jayne is such a real and dynamic character. Wouldn’t be surprised if I visited NYC and came across her.

This dose of pain was very painful, but I loved every second of it. Please, please, please read this book if you get the chance. Just be aware of some content: eating disorders, depression, anxiety, racism, cancer.

Happy reading!

enjoyed fine. didn’t love, the characters are pretty hard to connect to. but the ending was good and made me tear up a bit. i wish the end was about halfway through and we got to see more of the healing & relationship building.

SO SO SO GOOD! Mary Choi is an amazing writer and always knows how bring a good book. It's humorous without the cringe Gen-z writing. It warms your heart and you feel connected to the characters.

i thjnk i need to digest this book a bit more and then i’ll maybe change my review!!! i did really enjoy it tho and i like books with the sort of complicated family dynamic ig

I went into this one with such high hopes, but I ended up not liking it that much.
I didn't like either of the sisters and that made it difficult for me to keep reading.
I guess it just didn't end up being what I expected and unfortunately I didn't enjoy it that much.

Real and heartbreaking at times. The author’s descriptions food, scents, feelings, and people’s appearances were so spot on and well described that I felt like I was right there with Jayne and June
