It wasn't an ending where I thought it would end...it pulled up a theme that layed low throughout the book yet was not addressed as the end and it's not what I thought it would end with but it answered one question.
Nothing about June after surgery, or Patrick and Jayne's relationship.

Dnf at 80%** I read this for book club as a tenth grader and it was definitely not for me. As an Asian American myself, I was hoping to connect to the main character, but she was just straight up unlikeable. I tried to keep giving her the benefit of the doubt, but time and time again she showed she was selfish and bratty. The description made me uncomfortable, but I understand if some readers found the forward language interesting.

This was unexpectedly my favorite of MHK Choi's books. I saved it for last because it sounded the least interesting, but the dynamic between the sisters in the story and their individual and intertwined lives was really emotional, deep, and complex in a nuanced way that really brought their characters to life.

You know that group of people who read YA and then complain in their review that it was too YA? Y'all will like this one lol. It felt very grown up to me. I enjoyed it a lot eventhough Jayne and June were stressful as hell. I read this chunky book in a day, while listening to the audiobook on 2x speed. The dialouge surprisingly wasn't too fast. It was like an episode of Gilmore Girls. Thats another thing some of these references were kinda dated, I love Gilmore Girls and im in my 30's. Still I laughed a lot in between crying because this book packs in a lot. Choi's detailed, incredibly sad but bold and sarcastic writing is honestly inspiring.

When Jayne said to June " I'm not punching a b*tch with vagina cancer" LOL

This didn't hit as hard for me as for other people. I liked the ending chapters best as the main character FINALLY improves her outlook on herself (which is accurate to life). The characters were a bit flat for me as did the plot.

Gonna be thinking about Jayne and June for the rest of my life.
This book took me a long time to get through, and I'm honestly grateful for that. I feel like this story and these characters seeped into my bones.

3.5/5 stars. I like how it captured authentic sibling relationship really well. Wasn’t a fan of how everything just randomly seemed to get abruptly better in the last 50 pages.

Catcher in the Rye for the girlies. I had no idea this was so ED heavy. The way it's portrayed is like we're in the mind of someone who knows how to hide things from themselves and therefore, us, just like some of us who were in active ED at some point in our lives. The family dynamics were so real and the end had me.
