Congratulations booktok, you got me again. Saw a post about a delicious scene, turns out it's from the second book in the series and I need to read this one first. I'm sorry, there is no scene in any sequel that will make me want to continue to read this book. I hate the characters, I hate the plotline, I want to punch them all, and they are rich stuck up snobs. I also hate the author for HOW MUCH SHE TALKS ABOUT THE DAMNED CLOTHES.

I went into this blind. Did not know it was RH and wasn't expecting to have so much to say... don't get me wrong, it's a smutty good time. But I would still recommend the WITSEC series first for a solid RH with plot.

The most unrealistic thing about this book is how much these men absolutely WORSHIP the ground Skyla walks on. Men are tripping over each other, trying to get to her. And when they do, they're just happy as can be to have one small piece of the pie. I swear, some of these books are more fantasy than the ones with dragons.

They all fall for her almost immediately, and after about a week, would literally kill for her. I'm still not sure what makes her so special, she's a kind person and good at swimming? (Surprisingly important to two of the men). Oh, and she's a virgin (yes, also important). Why did all the boys fawn all over Bella Swan? She was new in town and didn't grow up with them. I guess that's what's happening here.

I think there needs to be more time between her falling for each man (this is a series, after all). It doesn't feel like she forms that deep of a connection before letting someone else in. And she doesn't try very hard to resist their advances, knowing she has boyfriends already. We are reminded many times, though... they’re just happy to be with her in any way she wants. There's also way too little time before I love yous.

Still, this is a decent why choose. The love stories are all unique and compelling in their own ways. The writing is decent, and the arranged marriage / secret society plots add something other books don't have. You don't know why it's called Deceit until the very end, and it was definitely a surprise.

I started off this book thinking how unlucky Skylar was because her Mom passed, and her terrible dad who she rarely saw wanted to marry her off to someone she didn't know. By the end, that flipped and little Miss Lucky ended up with her very own harem of sexy yet very different men that were all fiercely protective of her. We love men that know how to share
