i have read much better afghani literature. this very much feels like a book written for the american palette and in the wake of the american invasion that feels kind of horrifying. too many edges are smoothed even as it depicts the horror and mundanity of violence

I was very easily moved and engrossed by the story in the beginning and middle and learned a lot about the culture in Afghanistan. As I kept reading though, it seemed like the author did add some wild plot twists just to keep it spicy and dramatic like a hallmark movie.

khaled hosseini why did you do this to me
