This is a really beautiful history of a refugee family immigrating to America. As the author learns more about her parents' and Vietnam's political history, she comes to terms with who they are as people and the lessons, for better or for worse, that they passed on to her.

this book rly gets me thinking

through my experience, I can’t relate to this story. but somehow reading it feels like it’s also a part of me.

the horror in this book, all the devastation and cruelty scares me so much. but it rly make u understand how painful it was. how messed up war is and how surviving is so different from living.

I rly do recommend ppl to read this book

there’s nothing else I could rly say except it’s an important read. bonus point for having amazing artwork that portrays events rly well
