I thought red queen was fun, well the first two but the third and forth were lacking in quality. I thought I’d pick this up though since Victoria Aveyard always had potential. I felt like this book was just that. Potential. Interesting premise, but too much of everything and it felt like it couldn’t figure out what it wanted to be.

alsoooo

Honestly, this book wasn’t bad. Wasn’t great, but the series has potential. It felt as though the world building would come in big info dumps and super long paragraphs without any action or dialogue so it made for some boring parts of the story. This book could have been way shorter but I still liked the way it wrapped up and leads into book two. The characters were interesting enough, Dom, Erida and Sorasa were definitely my favourites and I need more of them. I still think I’ll give the next book a chance, just to see how it goes.

Another book with an editing problem. This would've held my attention if it were at least 250 pages shorter but alas...

(4.5) This was one of my most anticipated reads for the year and I was not disappointed. It has everything I like: well-written female relationships/mentorship, an interesting array of characters with funny dynamics (Sorasa is my fave), the beginnings of found family, a beautiful, diverse world, and a vILLAIN ROMANCE (!!) These things combined made it a fast and enjoyable read for me. Now my only regret is reading it right away so I’ll have to wait a long time for the sequel.
