This is the 3rd book I have read from this series and every time, to me it feels like coming home to some friends. I very much enjoyed "By Wind". The supernatural elements here are interestingly woven into a story about justice, there are angels involved and I won't say more than that because then I would spoiler.
Brenda is a character in her forties and has accomplished much, both with the esoteric store she runs and the coven she is a member of, but the events in this story put her off balance and there are several troubles ahead.
Caroline is an Asian American who has a lot of trouble, too in her private life and tries everything to solve it. Again, other members of the coven and also two other people try to help both Brenda and Caroline.
I think it's interesting how different the stories and characters in this series are, every one brings their own background, their own beliefs and other traits to the table so to speak. Yet as the other members of the coven appear every now and then, and have been introduced in books one and two, that is a nice connective element.
