I can see how this was fantastic in its day 💊😈

The letter format of the last two chapters were my favourite. Finally getting an insight into their mind.

The story is dulled by knowing the ending but thems the breaks with famous fiction 🤷‍♀️

As it says in the afterword, "it is a fragmented, quietly feverish little book...leaving...the sordid facts to the imagination."

It's INCREDIBLE the influence on pop culture that this had

A good classic. Although it might not be what you consider to be a particular "thrilling" book I was always tempted to just keep going.
It makes you think. But only if you want to.

A perfectly accurate adaption of the original novella. A good read to introduce the source material to younger readers who may be put off by the 'antiquated' language of the original. A fast read, and I enjoyed the art of Daniel Ferren. A bit simple and perhaps too fast for a tense mystery, but still fun.

The biggest spoiler of the book is the one everyone knows, but I still enjoy reading gothic classics immensely, and this has an interesting conversation on the nature of good and evil and the shades of grey people are.
