3.5 leaning 4 stars. I read this one before Throne of Glass because I’ve heard you should. Altogether I enjoyed the sorry, but I didn’t really love the breakdown of each part. I think that’s just a preference thing truly, but ultimately liked the book. I’m hoping things pick up the pace moving forward with the rest of the series!

3.5. My first Sarah J. Maas. I started with the series least likely to annoy me, lol. I didn't realize this was a collection of novellas until I reached the acknowledgements, but it worked well as a standalone. It piqued my interest enough to put the first book from the main series on hold at the library!. Also
Spoiler I knew Sam would die, because this is a prequel and I assumed we'd need to fuel Celaena's tragic backstory for the main series. RIP!
