I’ve read several of the stories now and I’ve enjoyed them for both their own merits and who they honor.

Intro
Bridesmaids
Summer of ‘79
Mother and Child Reunion
Lowcountry Stew
Letter to Her Readers I

Ok confession! I really only read the piece by Elin Hilderbrand called "summer of '79" because I loved the book Summer of 69 so much. It was an excellent short story

Every story, every recipe, every memory, all just as exquisite as the last. A fitting tribute to a true Lowcountry queen. You’ll laugh and cry in equal measure but when you get to “Postcards from Heaven,” all bets are off. Just call out sick and grab an extra box of tissues. I think DBF would wholeheartedly approve and I certainly wish she could still be here to do just that.

Short stories by a collection of authors. Some were great.

If you loved (love?) Dorthea Benton Frank, then this book of stories inspired by her is a precious gift. Some stories are better than others; (Cassandra King Conroy and Mary Alice Monroe are two of my favorites.) This book is a must read for Dottie fans...it captures her essence and plainly shows how loved she was by her friends. (Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all so loved.) Read this book before the summer ends...

I read the beginning and ending essays, letters, plus the recipes— none of the stories. Though I haven’t loves the books I’ve read by her, I still consider myself a fan. She seemed larger than life and I love larger than life people. A loss for women’s fiction.

These stories were all so touching: some of them reminded me of DBF’s writing style others were just like stories that she might tell at a party or speaking engagement. They were just all so fun and what I would of expected DBF to be like. I concluded the book on Mother’s Day and the night before the anniversary of my mother’s death with her sons final words and my heart broke for him losing his mom.

Couldn't finish most of the stories because the writing was so poor.
