I wanted to enjoy this more than I did - I just found the majority of characters unlikeable, even Maddie at points. But I appreciated the vulnerability of the depiction of grief and guilt, and I liked seeing how Maddie went from speaking to herself and using google to relying on her friends - it was a clever way of showing her character development. I also appreciated reading from the perspective of a black woman and learning how other people view and navigate the world.

first fantastic read in a while!! sometimes the main character annoyed me but i also felt very seen in her - loved the family dynamics and how they were portrayed

didn’t love the romance plot deus ex machina there at the end

it also got an audible gasp out of me!!
