Something about this series that Lily Mayne does so well is the way the MCs developing feelings (rather inconveniently) is progressing the relationship through sex. And honestly, I think that’s a hard thing to do and do well but Lily does it SO WELL in this series!
Vince and Crossbody do not like each other. At all. They know it. The wrestlers know it. The fans know it. We know it. Like true work place enemies that cannot stand each other’s existence. But both of them are just Insecure And Afraid To Be Vulnerable™️. Arguably my favorite dynamic.
Vince and Crossbody are just incredibly sweet together. Both with vulnerabilities that have prevented them from being friends prior to this (Vince intimidated by their class difference/history of being looked down on for his childhood, Crossbody not really knowing how to make real connections or be vulnerable after a life raised in his mother’s court). It was incredibly angsty up until the last 15% or so and my emotions were being squished around like it was in a washing machine on high. Really, both of them are afraid to admit their feelings because “WHAT IF HE REJECTS ME” and we see so much of their connection happen in the bedroom. So seeing that emotional vulnerability finally bleed outside of the bedroom had me screeching internally.
Sweet on top of Angsty on top of horny on top of hysterical.
Definitely my favorite addition to the series (sorry Seb and Larkin) and I am HYPE for book 5! Bring on creepy hotel incubus and B Were. :)

When Lily Mayne announced this book, I was literally jumping out of my seat. This has quickly become one of my favorite series as a comfort read. It's just light hearted and appeals to my sense of humor. I definitely think it's not going to be for everyone because it can be a bit juvenile.
The book is pretty fast paced in spice but slower in relationship progression. The initial start of Vince and Crossbody's relationship was extremely bizarre. It almost felt like it came out of nowhere but I think it did great in slowly transitioning into something more tangible.
There is some dub con in the beginning of the book so I'd definitely keep that in mind if it's not your thing.
Crossbody was so cute which I wasn't expecting at all. I really like how his character turned out. He's extremely naïve due to his upbringing. He's easily hurt and so he keeps everyone at a distance to prevent further pain.
Vince starts off as a massive dick. While Crossbody comes across snarky, Vince is straight up mean at times. He lets his temper get the better of him. However, I did like how things progressed. He does own up to his mistakes and rectifies them.
The story between the two of them coming from different worlds was great. I loved how it came together by the end. Finally, seedy incubus motel guy is a creep and a sexual harasser. I also could not stop laughing at him and I cannot wait for his book.
