very entertaining read

I didn't like the ending at all.. so many plot holes around his "suicide"
are the detectives dumb?

The dual timeline (a simple past & present designation) worked well. I can't say much without giving anything away or spoiling something & that's my pet peave of reviews! I can say I felt the pace, characters & dark, twisted story were very well delivered & developed.

This one just sucked me right in. I've been reading a few more thrillers lately and this one gripped me a bit more quickly than all the rest.

In this one our narrator is Grace, a young woman literally trapped in her marriage. The narrative toggles back and forth between "Past" and "Present" so we get to see how Grace got into her current situation. The situation was kind of unbelievable but I just went with it. I needed this easy, entertaining read after some of the heavier books that I'd been reading lately.

the ending could have been more complete..???? (it’s like incomplete, but complete.???)
i liked the past & present, however, they seemed to have caught up with each other which made it unnecessary at the later part of the story

This book was so ... competent. B.A. Paris has clearly read a ton of domestic thrillers and decided to write her very own. Unfortunately, she doesn't really understand subtly. Jack wasn't the clever psychopath Paris thought he was; everyone else was just unable to use higher processing power. Grace, the main character, would be smart and then ridiculously stupid in turns. Oddly, the entire book read as though it had been translated from another language. It was just that stilted. Still, I sat in bed reading it for two hours straight so it must have been good enough. Also, the light coming from the keyhole on the cover makes it look like some sort of divine energy is expending itself behind the door.

Edit:
Spoiler And James wanted to torture Millie, but he also pushed her down the stairs? That could have killed her, and then he wouldn't have anyone to torture! And why didn't he want Millie to be the maid of honor?

Edit:
Spoiler BITCH, THAT DOG IS DEAD!!!!!!!! HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT???????????

This book was riveting, terrifying and left me with chills. I finished it in two days. It’s incredibly well written with vivid details and dialogue. You feel for Grace and Millie every step of the way.

This book is so fast paced, I don't think I've ever inhaled one so quickly!
A true thriller, so intense I wanted to put the book down for a breather equally as much as knowing what happened next. Knowing next won out and the result was a quick, satisfying read.
The writing is excellent and it carried me along without realising I was reading and packed every punch--The gift of a true writer alongside a gripping storyline.
Plus, the reference to Down Syndrome was spot on from personal experience.
A well deserved 5 star
