Excellent brief introduction to the pastor and counseling. Reju and Pierre offer a succinct yet rich strategy for the pastor's role in shepherding the flock.

I found this read to be fresh, realistic, and well nuanced, especially given its brevity. As far as content goes, I think this is a must read for any and all Christians as the role of counseling (so to speak) is to define all of us as Christians; it's another way of speaking of our responsibility to disciple one another (which Reju and Pierre briefly argue in chapter 7). Two other strengths of this book are: 1) its connecting counseling to the local church; 2) appendices with examples of note taking (and other tips) that will help in the counseling room.

This is a very helpful resource for pastors/church leaders looking for a basic usable approach to counseling as well as a good primer for equipping others in your church to do the same. Highly recommended.

Short overview of counseling process. Not meant to be an in depth guide, but it is an accurate guide (outline) to how the process should work, what the responsibilities of each party is, and how the process comes to an end. Reference worthy.

Incredibly helpful take on the topic of counseling. I entered with little to no experience and I leave confident that I could at least take on a counseling relationship with a framework for success.

Jeremy Pierre and Deepak Reju skillfully hit on all the essentials of pastoral counseling in a helpfully brief manner. A great book to read and extremely informative!
