This book is definitely on the younger end of YA, but it’s entertaining if you are looking for an adventure. It has magic, an evil queen, and a forbidden romance - perfect to take your mind off the real world.
Just stopped listening for some reason. When I wanted to finish, I couldn't remember what had happened so far and didn't feel like starting over. Will probably give this another shot at a later time

I was honestly really disappointed with this book. I absolutely love the storyline, but the writing style seemed so babyish, like someone in lower high school was writing it.
The way that the female protagonist constantly finds the need to reiterate what her destiny is and how she might do it, as well as the constant irritation I found from her agreeing with other characters and then suddenly going behind their backs to do exactly what she agreed against. It all just seems very cliche - which is a trope I normally love in fantasy romance books - but is just so overdone in this novel, happening almost every chapter.
I really struggled between my love of the storyline and my disappointment in the writing style and in turn decided against buying the second novel.
