FINALLLLLYYYYYYY. The elephant of Roxie and Carter was getting bigger and bigger as this series went on. I was so curious as to why they were falling apart, but I had my ideas from some of their interactions in previous books. Man, I was so damn sad to know that I was right!! Since this was the only married couple, yet these lease "lovey" couple, I was super curious and that curiosity just kept building.
The beginning of this book killed me!! I was SO happy that Carter was ok, but I really ached for these two because they were so lost. Not only were they lost, it was as if they'd both shut down and completely quit talking to each other. The lack of communication between these two really wanted to make my pull my hair out. I don't know how they could live with each other and just completely ignore each other. Also they assumed they knew what each other wanted. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ASSUME!!! And damn did they make asses out of themselves! But, the frustration is really want drives you to keep reading. You think, surely they have to explode at some time right?
WABAM.... that explosion was amazing!!! I really loved how Carrie Ann made these two realize that they needed to talk. It was BRILLIANT!!! I'm not sure there would have been a better way to make someone realize they need to change. Speaking of that change, I adored how these two reconnected! Beginning again was just the BEST idea! Them dating again meant they were truly fighting, they were fighting to be alive again and fighting to thrive as a couple again. And these two, they hadn't been thriving as individuals or a couple in so long. I also liked how this seemed to bring a fun side of them out. I liked seeing them reconnect and rediscover themselves since we didn't see this first.
What I really loved the most though? Their family! These Montgomery's are all so tight knit, and I was just waiting for them to finally drop the anvil and make these two talk again! In the best way they know how, the Montgomery's and their friends really did a lot for Carter and Roxie. Also along those lines, I am all the more curious about Kaylee and Landon. These couples just keep getting more and more interesting! I can't wait to keep going

"Jagged Ink" delivers an emotional punch wrapped in raw vulnerability and tender hope. Carrie Ann Ryan takes a bold step by exploring not the beginning of love, but what happens after the "I do"—when life gets messy, painful, and real.
Roxie and Carter’s story is a heartfelt portrayal of a marriage on the brink. Their chemistry is undeniable, but it's their emotional distance that tugs at the heart. The book doesn’t shy away from grief, identity loss, and the silent unraveling of connection—making the eventual path back to each other all the more rewarding.
Ryan crafts a second-chance romance that feels mature, honest, and deeply moving. If you love your love stories with a dose of realism, steamy tension, and a hard-earned HEA, "Jagged Ink" will hit just right.

Method: audiobook
Rating: 5/5 stars
H rating: 5/5 - Carter. Loved him..yes he walked away, but she pushed and pushed and just froze him out.
h rating: 4.5/5 -Roxie. She had a lot of issues, many stemming from the traumatic event but some were also personal self-deprecating..she was a really good h though.
Drama: 3/5 - Communication is such a huge issue here!! Her constant need for perfection as well as the need to not show emotion was such a huge issue.
Thoughts: Really happy with this book and the ending even if I wasn't so happy with the h. Still gave it 5 stars because the problem was such a real issue that I could understand all of what happened.

This is a great second chance romance story. It is romantic and gut wrenching in the same book. Roxie Montgomery and Carter Marshall start off this newest book married. There is a sense right away that their marriage is in trouble. Carter is burned in a fire saving Roxie's sister. The tension between Carter in Roxie is palpable. When Carter gets home from the hospital, he notices divorce papers sitting out. What has Roxie done? Carter becomes even more cut off from Roxie. He loves her but is love enough? Roxie feels the same way. Is love enough to keep them together. They both have stopped talking to each other by this point. They are living together but living separate lives. Carter decides to move out and give Roxie what she wants. Carter doesn't realize that Roxie doesn't know if she wants that. After a date with another woman, Carter decides he can not live without Roxie. He will do whatever he needs to do to make this second chance work. Roxie and Carter both grow so much in this story. The heartbreak they experience to lead to their silent relationship moved me to tears. This was a great story that I will take with me for a long time.
Great story
This story struck a cord for me as I have been through the same thing. This shows how you can overcome it. It was dealt with sincerity and realism

OMG!! Even if this rips your heart out at times, I just loved it! It's such a fabulous look at a relationship and how two people can drift apart with out even realizing it and the journey they take to find themselves, and each other again. Love isn't easy, and Carter and Roxie are definitely not easy! They love each other so much, but they can't find the words to convey that. They have to go through hell and back to finally realize they only want each other. I don't want to over simply the story, at times it had me in tears, but them it makes your heart so full of love....I couldn't put it down!!! Fabulous job Carrie!!!!

Jagged Ink is the third and final book is the Colorado Springs Montgomeries series. We already know so much and yet so little about youngest sister Roxie and her husband Carter. We know that they have been going through some tough times, but not why; we know that he was injured in a fire saving her sister, but not what happens next.
This book dealt with some difficult topics, delicately, but that changes the mood of the book; you feel the angst of uncovering their secrets and figuring out how they can love each so much, but not seem in love.
It is a gripping read and despite a deeper and moodier tone, it is also enchanting and romantic.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
