Loved it. When I went to work I kept thinking “where is Monday?” It was so emotional and tense and I could not have guessed the twist. It was a great read, I can’t wait to one day forget the mystery and read it again. I pray for the day.

dark emotional mysterious tense
ok i cannot rate this bc i read the book timeline wrong GJFDHJGSKGFHKSDJFHJKS thats a me issue but its pretty well written. the story keeps you wanting to continue it and everything is foreshadowed really well. please check trigger warnings if you feel you need it this is not a light story. super super emotional i think the author's really good at writing i just feel like i didn't gel with the plot as much bc of the darkness of it which is a me problem not a book problem.
ok spoiler i am not a massive fan of the mental break plot twist it just feels kind of. overdone?? to me but it was forshadowed well so i'm not nearly as annoyed as i mightve been and also i feel sick after reading that. also feel so angry at so many of the adults and im assuming thats intentional because this is very much a story about adults who leave kids to do the heavy lifting and i am so angry hJKFDSYAJHKFGDSHJA

Monday and Claudia are inseparable. When Monday doesn't show up to the first day at school Claudia starts to worry but she seems to be the only one. She can't believe that her only friend would leave her to deal with the horrors of school alone so something must be wrong. As she searches for answers no one seems to know anything about Monday's disappearance and something isn't adding up.

This was a heartbreaking story of friendship and loss. The stark differences between Monday and Claudia's lives broke my soul as they started to unfold. This book had me sobbing.

I cried so hard at the end, it hurt to see how Monday didn’t get a happy ending. However the memory of Monday being lavender and dancing with Claudia at the end was bittersweet (she became free in memory not reality).
Jackson is amazing in how she ties the issues that plague the black community in this book especially the carelessness of the police and the cps in saving the kids. Also i love how Jackson used different colors to symbolize the different characters personalities and how their emotions change the way the color is used.
