This is my second book by Tiffany D. Jackson, and WOW, I'm absolutely a fan. Her work is mysterious and realistic, making the story even more unsettling. MONDAY'S NOT COMING is a great example—it's an uncomfortable read that's truly unforgettable.

The depiction of close friendship between middle school girls was incredibly accurate, and so were the family dynamics, which varied drastically between Monday and Claudia. This is a very good mystery; I couldn't have predicted the ending, but I did question some of the writing choices a little bit (such as the way the chapters and chapter titles were presented and how the details were explained at the end).

MONDAY'S NOT COMING is a creative take on mystery and an ode to missing young Black girls that far too few people are looking for. I'd definitely recommend this book to mystery book lovers, but I'd definitely advise checking trigger warnings first!

Loved it. When I went to work I kept thinking “where is Monday?” It was so emotional and tense and I could not have guessed the twist. It was a great read, I can’t wait to one day forget the mystery and read it again. I pray for the day.

It started off slow for me, but picked up halfway through. There were twists I didn't expect and it got very dark.

I closed my eyes, envisioning it, trying to think of anyone I would beg for one more moment with, but only Monday came to mind. I loved her. Well, I mean, not like that. I didn’t love her in a way a girl loved a girl, like romantically. I loved her more like a soul mate loved a soul mate. Who makes up the rules for who your soul belongs to?

If Monday were a color, she’d be red. Crisp, striking, vivid, you couldn’t miss her—a bull’s-eye in the room, a crackling flame.
I saw so much red that it blinded me to any flags.

This book was much darker than I thought it was going to be. It was very good, and I never want to read it again.

Well, that was not at all what I expected! This is not my favorite book by Jackson, mostly because of the back and forth time structure that was somewhat difficult to follow. I think the plot was shocking, revolting, and honest and the characters were gritty and real. This story would be a good read for hesitant teen readers because of its’ short chapters and engaging content.
