This is my second book by Tiffany D. Jackson, and WOW, I'm absolutely a fan. Her work is mysterious and realistic, making the story even more unsettling. MONDAY'S NOT COMING is a great example—it's an uncomfortable read that's truly unforgettable.

The depiction of close friendship between middle school girls was incredibly accurate, and so were the family dynamics, which varied drastically between Monday and Claudia. This is a very good mystery; I couldn't have predicted the ending, but I did question some of the writing choices a little bit (such as the way the chapters and chapter titles were presented and how the details were explained at the end).

MONDAY'S NOT COMING is a creative take on mystery and an ode to missing young Black girls that far too few people are looking for. I'd definitely recommend this book to mystery book lovers, but I'd definitely advise checking trigger warnings first!

Overall, I liked this book but the pacing and timeline really threw me off. A simple before and after would have been better but all the "one year before the before" stuff was confusing, especially when we find out

that Monday had been dead for two years and Claudia's trauma prevented her from remembering.

Woah. That was devastating.
My heart truly goes out to both Claudia and Monday and all the suffering they had to endure.
This is such a powerful book but the timeline got a bit confusing for me, besides thats it was a great book!

also i just wanted to point it was kinda weird when Micheal kissed Claudia knowing she was drunk but he wasn't…

It started off slow for me, but picked up halfway through. There were twists I didn't expect and it got very dark.
