The ending to this book is probably going to haunt me for the rest of my life. What a sad and harrowing book! Monday deserved so much better.

It feels as if someone ripped my heart out of my body, stepped on it multiple times and gave it back, broken, full of mud and rotten.

This was based on a true story. Its really sad for kids to go through this. They don't deserve anything like this at all. I don't want to mention to much because it was hard just reading it.

This book is unbelievably heartbreaking. It is such a raw portrayal of the things that affect poor communities every single day. I still think about the resolution of this book regularly and I feel so deeply for the kids in this book. Stunningly well written.

This book was so captivating. I thought the author wrote teenagers very well. Did anyone else think that Claudia and Monday’s relationship was a little codependent?? I think this was based on a true story, the case of Mitchelle Blair. The timeline was really confusing and difficult to follow at times. I like stories that are sometimes told out of order but the chapter titles made it hard for me to follow where we were in the timeline. After a reveal at the end, it makes more sense why the author did that. It was still challenging to follow. The narrator is excellent!

INCLUDES SPOILERS.

En je hebt nog 'one year before the before' en 'two years before the before' en al die verschillende tijdlijnen maken het verhaal enorm ingewikkeld.

I mean girl, you are not a baby anymore.
