I had to read this for school and didn’t really know what to expect. I guess since I put the bar pretty low it just allowed me to enjoy the book a lot more.
I’ve never really read about this topic but I think this was just a beautiful story that shows how the people involved in the conflict really can’t help it, and that both sides just wanted peace and freedom.

The plottwist left me kind of in a confused state because I didn’t really know what to think.

I liked this book a lot because it dealt with a new topic for me. I couldn't decide between three and four stars, as I liked the book a lot, but I didn't "really like it." I found the ending to be slightly unrealistic. The characters were interesting, but they didn't come alive for me. In the end, I loved reading about the topic of this book, and I wanted to like it more. The writing didn't feel sophisticated enough for me. The narrator, a 17-year-old, writes in first person, but I feel like she writes and acts more like a 13-year-old.

This story gives the reader an idea of what terror and military occupation does to the people of Israel and Gaza, of how their history has them stuck in a viscous circle of hate and retaliation. But aside from that the story feels flat and the ending seemed very sudden, like the author lost interest halfway through the story.
