More imagines a (the) utopian society that cares for the sick and is against needless violence and yet is still founded on slavery, sexism and the displacement of children, as well as the reverance of old men and the enslaving of people who have not been given permission to travel - cheery!

Now I can see what the dystopian movies were based off of. Utopia is a “no place”, a “perfect” society, at least in Raphael’s eyes. No self expression, 6 hour work days, no private property, laws upon laws. The more I read this the more living in the US felt like a blessing. Overall it was not a bad book, very interesting read, just got me riled up a lot.
