Gah! I stayed up WAY past my bedtime finishing this book! SO GOOD!
I have devoured every one of L.K. Farlow’s books and this one was no different. In fact, this one may be my favorite!
Natalie has been in love with her brother’s best friend, Alden, for as long as she can remember. After a drunken night where they slept together, he wakes up and doesn’t remember a thing and she ends up pregnant with his child. Devastated and completely heartbroken, she decides to raise the baby by herself. Four years have past and Alden returns home to buy the restaurant where Natalie works and she is forced to make a decision to tell him the truth when chemistry starts to spark between them. He wants more with her but what happens when she tells him the truth about what happened that one drunken night so many years ago, and about what came out of that night, their daughter Tatum.
I loved this story! It was the perfect mix of angst, heartbreak, anger, love, and light hearted moments. Tatum was the perfect character. She was smart, funny, and bonded to Alden without even knowing he was her father. Alden was what book boyfriends are made of! Even when he was angry, and in pain, he always tried to focus on what was right and do the best thing for his daughter.
I am so dang excited for the next book because of the epilogue in this one. It gives us a glimpse of Natalie’s brother’s story and I am SO here for it!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

Such a sweet story. Loved how they have been friends since childhood and despite the circumstances, they managed to make the best of their situation. Love prevails in every way in their journey. Little Miss Tatum, Lordy, that girl stole the show. I adored how she was portrayed and can’t wait to read more from LK.

Best Laid Plans is the first book I’ve read by LK Farlow, but if this is anything to go by, it definitely will not be the last. This second chance/ best friends sister/ friends to lovers romance ticked every box for me. It was fun and cute, angsty and emotional, sweet and sexy with a smart mouthed, tough heroine and a hot as sin hero.
Alden and Natalie were a complicated whirlwind that left my heart in my throat in moments and had hearts in my eyes the other times. And while their journey wasn't perfect, it was beautifully penned and completely worth every single moment. They gave me all of the feels and a ton of explosive chemistry. I couldn't get through the pages fast enough to get to that happily ever after.
Best Laid Plans kept me totally invested in the story throughout the whole book. It's such a perfect blend of heartbreak, love, new and old relationships and so much more.

I really wanted to rate this book higher because the writing was great and some of the characters (the daughter? Adorable) were great too. But I just couldn't. The MMC's anger and reaction after finding out the truth was over the top, even after his explanation/backstory was given. I sympathized with him to a point, and then it was too much when he wasn't even considering her point of view, because she had a damn good reason for what she did and continued to do. Considering the fact that he had been into her enough to only having her in his spank bank over the years, you'd think he wouldn't have jumped to the horrible conclusions about her that he did--regardless of what happened with his ex.
That could have been it and this still would have been a good book, but on top of all of that, I couldn't stand that the author had the FMC basically panting over him every time she laid eyes on him--even when he was angry with her and being a jerk. And in his chapters it's painfully obvious to him that she wants him to love her too and not just the daughter. Even when he's thinking horrible things about her. PLEASE let your FMCs have some self respect.

A teenage girl. Her brother's best friend, who she has crushed on for forever. A drunken night. You can predict the rest.
Fast forward three years. Natalie and her sweet girl, Tatum, are getting by. Her brother and parents are nearby for support.
Suddenly Alden (the brother's BFF) is back in town and stirring up feelings in Natalie, and secrets.
One part brother's best friend. One part second chance romance. One part "oops there's a baby". And mix in a little workplace romance! Sounds crazy, but it all works!
I loved Alden & Natalie, but Tatum stole the show for me! I love a little girl with sass & spunk!! And her relationship with Alden was adorable from the start.
I'd say this is my favorite book to date by this author (& I'm hoping there's a Nate/Jenny story on the horizon!!)
