This book reminded me of my days studying English in university. Reading poems, short stories etc. and realizing there are so many ways to read them, to experience them, and finding out about so many wonderful things!
I had to chuckle a lot, smile a lot and grin a lot. It also made me want to read more poems again.
I received a free copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Kay Ryan writes briefly, vividly, and with quixotic power about poetry and poets in this small collection of short essays. Her thinking is original and her opinions are candid and expressed with astonishing metaphors.
She is one of my favorite poets, writing tight, sharp, internally rhymed, often funny poems.
This little book is going on my list of books to be reread periodically.

Think of this book like a digestible series of essays on the poetry of many great poets as well as Kay Ryan's own poetry. She'll take common themes and ideas in poetry such as nature, death, humor, pondering, etc. And rework theme to provide angles on them that fits into a fairly interesting way to view the world through the eyes of the poets.
