Mister O

The first 50% of this book was great. I loved Nick. I liked how he lusted after his best friend's sister. I liked the friendship between Nick and Harper. But the name of this book is Mister O. Yes I know it's based on Nick's show and a character he created. But Nick brags about being Mister O himself. Prides himself on being able to give women multiple orgasms. That he's very skillful at doing so. So why did I have to wait until 60% in for the first O?!?!?! By then I was kinda over it. Nick and Harper are a great couple and are perfectly matched. Harper is awkward around men (supposedly) and doesn't have much experience (so she says). But once she hooked up with Nick, all awkwardness vanished. I don't know. I'm always excited to read a romance written in the male character's POV. You don't get that often. But with Mister O, i really wanted Harper's POV cause I was getting tired of Nick and I really wanted Harper's true motivation for having Nick be her sex/relationship tutor. In the end, a sometimes hot story ended as a cutesy romance.

That said, I will be reading Wyatt's book. I want it to be filthy, dirty and sexy. LOL!
Loveable characters: Yes

This is just what I needed! It was cheesy, it was dirty and it gave me butterflies. There’s just something so indulgent about a romance entirely from our male leads perspective - and it was done so well! I really loved the relationship between Harper and Nick, the way their friendship persevered, it was very obvious that they actually had a connection outside of sex.

This book easily is my favorite in this series of books by Lauren. The first was just a cherry on top whereas this puppy was the yummy chocolatey filling in a decadent piece of cake! And yes that is an ode to the cake love featured in this book.

Spencer's baby sister Harper who is a professional magician and his best friend Nick Hammer who is a cartoonist were very much the perfect match. Nick was a darkly handsome, muscled, tattooed and bespectacled hottie. Just the image my brain concocts for Nick makes me shiver. PHEW! Nick was an absolute babe and sweetheart. He went from a shy teenager and bloomed into a bit of a ladies man but more than that he was a serial monogamist. He loved women and they loved him. And what he loved more than women was giving women pleasure. Thus the title Mr. Orgasam! Well, not entirely. That has a lot to do with the televised comedy cartoon he created and writes for.

Harper was a unique combination of vulnerabilities and strength and I loved how her and Nick complimented each other so well. I know I could describe more of Harper's character but truly just read this book. Harper was a riot in the first book but her book was just perfect.

Harper and Nick fell in love slowly over a few weeks, which was relatively easy given they had been friends for years. Add an insane attraction and even more things in common they either realized and sprinkle in some outrageous sexual chemistry and you got a damn good book.

This book, as I stated above was my favorite. I'm looking forward to her newest release about Nick and Wyatt's sister Josie soon but even having read the two books that follow this one I still stand with my decision to dub thee thy favoritest. Nick was hot. Harper was fun and fantastic. The chemistry was out of this world. The sex scenes were INSANELY GOOD. I think I had to fan myself a couple times but it was well worth the effort. And those two epilogues! Lauren just knows the way to my heart.

I listened to the Audiobook, with narration provided by Sebastian York. Nick and Harper's story is cute, funny, sweet and not to angsty. Honestly I liked it much better than Spencer and Charlotte's book. It would interesting to hear these stories from the female POV, even in novella form. 3.5 or 4 stars...

I really enjoyed reading Mister O.

It was funny and sexy.

Love! Love! Love this book! P.S. Have a glass of ice water handy you will need it!!!!

“Am I supposed to pretend it’s a date?”….“Like Spencer and Charlotte pretended?” she adds, as if I could forget their ruse, especially since it worked out in its own way—their wedding is in two weeks.

“No, that’d be lame if we did the same thing,” I say, digging into the chocolate for another bite. “That would be like if a romance writer used the same trope in the very next novel.”

Hahahahahaha! Love this! It’s like she’s calling herself out in it. So funny :)

Now on to my review…

This follow up book to Big Rock is about Spencer’s best friend Nick and Spencer’s sister Harper. We met both of them in Big Rock where an attraction between them was hinted at.

I liked them. I loved the beginning of the book the most but I felt like it grew weaker and got a little boring at the end.

One of the things I’ve noticed about Lauren Blakely books (this is my second by her) is that there is this doubt that the characters have about the feelings of the other person. They realize they have feelings beyond sex for the other person but fail to see the huge signals the other person is putting out that they feel the same. This was okay for one book but seeing as this seems to be part of her writing style I’m not loving the trend. So I’m not a big fan of the unnecessary internal turmoil over the other person’s feelings. It’s boring. Especially when their feelings are so obvious. But I guess since these are fluffy romances there is no other drama outside coming to terms with their relationship.

That being said, I do actually like that these are fluffy and light because it’s good to have these types of books in your back pocket after reading darker and grittier books and need a break and something lighter.

Other things I love about the book: smokin hot sex, dirty talk, relationship building, light humor and fun banter between the characters, the side characters, and overall light feel of the book.

I do stand by the fact that these would be much stronger books if they had dual POVs. The characters would be so much more dynamic and understood. They are still good but I think that’s the weakest thing about these books.

Also I was not a fan of Harper’s profession as a magician. It was just… lame. Sorry but it was. And their magic wand/cape sex play? Yeah…no. Who has those kinds of fantasies? Well, not me. Lol

Anyways…overall it was a fun book and I like having a new (to me) author that I like who writes these kind of light and fluffy books. I’m going to move back on to some books with more grit but will keep these on hand when I need to switch back to a lighter romance.
