I wish the audio version was more accessible for those that don’t want to pay audible just to listen to Mr. Noah’s memoir but worth the read. I was admittedly ignorant to life post apartheid in South Africa nor was I aware of how many languages are spoken in this country. Trevor recounts his life sprinkled with humor and seriousness. I was appalled that mixed individuals were given their own title and still being mistreated. I’m curious if Charlize Theron’s memoir (does she have one?) has any parallels with Trevor’s since they both unfortunately suffered abuse in the hands of the men in their lives.

So interesting reading about Trevor’s childhood and the people surrounding him.   What a mother, her personality and charm shine through the book! I feel like the book was an introduction to living under apartheid, would need to read more about it, but it’s clear how the laws and racism affected his life and the country in general. A little confusing with the chapters being themed and not in chronological order, but nothing that stops  the enjoyment of the book. The writing reminded me a lot of his intros on his show - serious subjects dealt with irony and humour to make them more accessible.

Just wow. This book is a beautiful love letter to Noahs mother that's deeply honest and humanly raw. I highly recommend the audiobook, hearing it all from the authors mouth really adds to the gravity of his story.

Heavy. Hard to read but I’m glad I did.
