I like second chance romance but the reason they broke up was the *stupidest* possible reason out there. I couldn’t have dreamed up a dumber reason. Rio says he is looking for love (in the book marketing) but he is not! He is hung up on his childhood love, and that is so apparent the entire story. I thought it was cute and it had me giggling, esp their high school chapters, as it reminded me of My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick - which was one of my favorites in high school - but I couldn’t get past their young break up. I honestly think this series is more appropriate than what most would consider new adult romance, but maybe I just have a negative view of other books (that I haven’t read).

5 ⭐️
I truly cannot believe one of my all-time favorite series is completed. This was so bittersweet to read as I’ve loved these characters for so long and didn’t want it to end.
But Hallie and Rio’s story—it was BEAUTIFUL. Nothing short of everything I expected from Liz. I fell in love with the found family aspect of this series back when I read the first book and it has been so present throughout this entire series. These five couples and ten characters hold such a special place in my heart.
I have loved Rio DeLuca since he was first introduced in Mile High and his story was completely worth the wait. I loved his relationship with the girls and how much they loved him in return. And Hallie was the all-time perfect person for him. The definition of his meant-to-be.
I have never not loved a character Liz wrote and Hallie is no exception. I loved her from the second I read her first chapter and I knew she was the perfect way to finish the series that has meant so much to me.
To Liz—thank you, thank you, thank you, for writing this series and these characters. I will follow your characters anywhere.
And I cannot even explain how excited I am for Monty and Reese’s story

4.5⭐️ Its a hello and a goodbye all in one.
If you've read the rest of the windy city series this was the final touch to wrap it up. One thing that I loved in the series is that each book and couple you journey with continues to grow with the next. The focus shifts but the relationships grow. Rio and Hallie were both the beginning and the end, the first puzzle piece and the final one. Theres found family, broken family, and family struggles.
I enjoyed my ride with this series and it'll live fondly in my memory. Rio and Hallie were endgame, boy/girl next door, 2nd chance romance. There were minor aspects that were meh but overall chefs kiss. I dont know which couple will be my favorite but I enjoyed each one and truly the growth of the group.
