This really is cute but I would’ve enjoyed it more if I was a kid. The characters are fun and so was the story. It has a great found family vibe. Read it to your kids! ♥️

A beautifully crafted tale, full of wonder and adventure, which I have thoroughly enjoyed reading! I adored the array of magical and mystical creatures we discovered in the Archipelago and found The Bestiary at the start of book to be a very useful adjunct. The illustrations allowed me to visualise the creatures perfectly and I loved having a map to reference too. Whilst this may be a children’s book, it has wider appeal and I feel many adults will be swept away by the magic and childlike wonder of it. The characters are engaging and you root for them throughout the story. Whilst there are moments of levity, the book is also incredibly moving and heartwarming in places, I even shed a tear!

In summary, this a fabulous tale and I shall look forward to reading Impossible Creatures to my girls when they are a little older.

For me, this book was an unexpected gem! I wasn’t expecting this to be as good as it was and I thought the story was really imaginative and unique. I understand why won prizes in Waterstones! I’m not the intended audience for this book yet it was still a good read. I felt like some of the plot could’ve been developed on slightly more and some of the characters could’ve been slightly better described as I got slightly lost with the crew of the boat and who was who! Then again this might have just been a me problem! I think children would really like to read this book as it is fantastic and unique for children children’s book!
