I thoroughly enjoyed this one! This has some of the funniest dialogues in the Poirot books and I was convinced I had the killer pegged many times, only to be fooled again at the end. Agatha Christie is truly my comfort author and I don't know what I'll do when I eventually finish all her books.

I liked this Poirot very much, and I think it's become one of my favorites, which is odd since it's a first-person Hastings Poirot, and I don't usually like those as much (Hastings' opaqueness drives me a bit cuckoo). But Poirot was so very perfectly "Poirot" in this one, and he actually made fun of Hastings quite a bit. Plus, the crime was perfect and the reveal was fun. And the letter at the end made me laugh out loud. Very enjoyable stuff.

Lord Edgware Dies was my May #ReadChristie2024 pick as it was one I hadn’t read before and I am so glad I picked it as I loved it!

This one is a Poirot book and is is accompanied with his favourite sidekick Hastings who at times I find irritating I must admit! But thankfully, I enjoyed his input, I felt like the bond between them both is strong particularly in this story. The dialogue between them does make me laugh at times and it always brings that lighthearted feel to these type of murder mysteries.

The plot was fantastic, with great characters featuring an impersonator, actresses, a neglected daughter, a troublesome nephew and a few people withholding secrets. There was of course a fair few red herrings to throw you off. It even made Poirot admit he had got things wrong a few times which is a rarity! I of course got the killer’s identity wrong, but that’s the norm for me with Christie books! This one did shock me and shows you just how sly and clever Christie could be.

Lord Edgware Dies is another great Poirot book I have discovered and I will definitely be reading it again in the future.
