The Bad Boy Rule

4.5 ⭐️ Ahhh this book 🤩 I’m a sucker for a tortured MMC and Maren did not disappoint!

Saint, our tortured MMC, avoids all relationships, even friends. His goals: play hockey through college to get to the NHL, protect his mom from his alcoholic dad, and make enough money to pay the bills. Lennon has everything materially she could ever want: rich family, prestige, free ride to college. But she’s in a golden cage, being ruled by a father that has laid out her whole life for her, including taking away her passion for ice skating. When the two come to face to face on the ice, they initially hate each other (especially when Saint finds out who her dad is). When Saint becomes Lennons fake boyfriend to piss off her dad, they quickly see that their attraction and feelings aren’t “fake”.

I FLEW through this book. I honestly wish it was longer 😂 when he shows up to her house in the rain 😭😭😭 I can’t. Love love love!!!

⛸️ fake dating | enemies to lovers | college romance | tortured MMC

Lennon and Saint’s enemies to lovers romance was explosive. Their push/pull dynamic and snarky banter was entertaining to watch, but it was their vulnerable moments that were my favorite. It was an emotional roller coaster of highs and lows, and I loved that Lennon was the one to tear down his protective walls.

A steamy enemies to lovers that will have you devouring this in hours!!!
You like a bad boy who has had it rough and is out for revenge and a good girl with a back bone who finds her voice, this is going to be your new obsession!!!! Angst, spice and everything nice, Maren delivered in every way!

Lennon is smart, driven, a little boujie and not hear for Saint and his cocky, tattooed, to hot for his own good, BDE!! But let me tell you, if I was sharing ice time with him, I would be singing a different too and not be able to deny him... ANYTHING.

And Saint?!?!? Whewwwww!! He's the kind of emotionally toutured smirking menace who makes you want to break your own purity pact. His revenge plot?!?! Messy!!! His chemistry with Lennon ...OFF THE CHARTS!!! The tension between them was hott

There is heat, humor, heartbreak and all the reasons we love a bad boy who falls hard!!!!!

ARC review!! Thank you to Maren Moore and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this ♥️

A spicy romance with the typical bad boy x good girl trope. It was a good read, nothing outstanding but was still cute, fluffy and easy to read!! This was my first Maren Moore book but I’ll definitely read more going forward ☺️

I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys these types of tropes 🫶🏼

In the beginning, I definitely had a hard time liking Saint as I didn't like his character but there was a pivotal moment in the story that turned it around for me. A story of enemies to lovers which also had a lot of moments that felt heartwrenching; but there were also times that were very heartfelt. Both characters have been through a lot that people can definitely relate to. It truly was a rollercoaster ride but hoping for that happy ending.
Lennon is hoping for some icetime to work on her techniques but when she sees the time has been double booked, she meets Saint and he definitely isn't a nice guy. While she's trying to sort everything out, he learns about her last name and puts two and two together. As he's planning his move, there's just something about Lennon that draws his attention. Nothing really is at it seems and both seem to have more in common than they thought but Saint also has the reputation of a ladies man which definitely makes Lennon keep her distance. But the more she finds out, the more she realises that there's more to his story and more underneath his bad boy exterior. Will they find their way in the end?...

“The one and only rule: Don’t fall for the bad boy. Under any circumstances.”

The Bad Boy Rule is oozing with sugar and spice from the Queen herself. Maren Moore did not disappoint.

Lennon is rich. The good girl. Who follows all the rules until she meets Saint Deveraux. He’s OU’s bad boy on and off the ice. Saint is from the wrong side of the tracks, and he’s looking to dirty up Lennon, the Golden Girl. He wants revenge on her father, and what better way to spend time with Lennon? What Saint doesn’t know is that his revenge plot just may backfire the more time he spends with Lennon. Her spitfire attitude brings him to his knees.

I couldn’t put this book down once I started. Saint was very relatable to me.   I loved watching this bad boy fall hard for the good girl that ends up corrupting him in the best way.  Maren has a gift for writing swoony characters that you fall hard for. I can’t wait for book two.

Tropes: hockey, enemies to lovers, virgin FMC, fake dating, secret hookups, opposites attract, forced proximity, bad boy/ good girl.

Thank you so much, Maren, for the arc!

This book was SOOOOO worth the wait!!!!!! I was worried being the first in a new series it might drag a little in the beginning, but this one grabbed a hold of me and wouldn’t let go until I was at the end. I don’t know how Maren does it but the MMCs she writes are always amazing!

Saint is your typical bad boy. He drives a motorcycle, is covered in tattoos, & doesn’t let anyone get close to him. He’s going to OU on a scholarship & dreams of making it into the NHL so he can finally get his mom out of their trailer park & away from his dad.

Lennon looks like the perfect little socialite princess from afar. She has always lived her life according to what her parents wanted, but she has taken off her rose colored glasses and is beginning to see them both for who they really are.

What starts as an arrangement between the bad boy & the princess to make her parents mad & show then she is really done with them controlling her life quickly turns into more. The chemistry between these two is there from the beginning & before long their hate flirting turns into real feelings. I really loved every minute of reading this one.

This was a great start to a new series. The friend group at this point is small because Saint refuses to admit he has friends & Lennon was so isolated from real friends thanks to her parents & ex. I can’t wait to see what we get from this one next.

This book isn’t just your typical bad boy X good girl romance. Based on the blurb, I expected to read about the playboy being reformed by the good girl, and while that wasn’t wrong, what I got was so much more - an emotional story of overcoming trauma and learning to love and be loved.

Underneath Saint’s cocky, playboy exterior is a man broken by his home life and the weight of his circumstances. He doesn’t do more than one night because he refuses bring anyone else into the chaos that is his life or to let anyone close enough to hurt him more than he already has been. Initially, he comes off as a jerk, but it is impossible to be unaffected by him and his story. The way I wanted to reach in my book and squeeze him tight was intense.

On the surface, Lennon seems like the good girl with a golden life, but that is just a facade. Beneath that perfect veneer lies a lack of control and the pressure to be perfect even if it makes her unhappy. She comes off as sweet and innocent, but deep down there is a fiery side of her that she learns to embrace. She has the kindest heart and loves fiercely, and the way she shows up for Saint is so moving and heartwarming. She is the type of heroine that you can’t help but root for.

When the two of them are forced to share ice time, they instantly loathe one another. But behind that loathing is an attraction that neither can deny no matter how much they try. Their chemistry sizzles, and their banter is witty and had me wanting to giggle and kick my feet. Saint just knows how to get under Lennon’s skin, and deep down, they both like it. The tension and the push and pull between them kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t wait until it finally snapped. And when it did, the spice was 🥵

Both Lennon and Saint have trauma - different levels and different types, but trauma nonetheless. And it is in each other that they find support, understanding, and healing. Saint helps Lennon claim her power and autonomy over her own her life, and she helps him heal and move past his pain. They show each other what it really means to be loved for who you are and without restriction, and it is incredibly heartbreaking, sweet, and powerful.

Maren Moore just knows how to write a book boyfriend, and Saint Devereaux is another example of that. The mouth on that man 🥵, the big heart hidden beneath the hard exterior, and the way he is soft only for Lennon had me melting. When he falls, he falls hard, and when he loves, he loves deeply. The way he supports Lennon, fights for her, claims her, and loves her is swoony and total book boyfriend goals.

The Bad Boy Rule delivers tension, humor, romance, heat, pain, growth, and joy. It is moving, engaging, and entertaining, and I highly recommend it!
