The Bad Boy Rule

Maren Moore

4.09 AVERAGE

This one does not disappoint! Lennon is the daughter of wealthy social climbing parents and she is set to please them. But when her father insists she takes back her cheating boyfriend that he hand selected for her, she decides she wants to make a change. She meets the bad boy and decides to work together to get back at her parents. But she does not know that Saint has a revenge plan also.

Saint has taken on an adult role from a young age. His father is abusive and an addict but his mother will not leave or stand up for either of them. Saint stays to protect his mother but he still holds a lot on his shoulders. Lennon is the daughter of the man that set his own father on a downward spiral, he is ready for revenge.

Lennon and Saint both grew so much! Lennon started to find herself and focus on what truly makes her happy without worrying about the backlash from others. She asserted her independence from her parents and chose the truth over lies. Sanint is complex because of his trauma. Saint had so many walls up and even though he wanted revenge he got more than he was expecting. Soon he did not want revenge anymore and he just wanted Lennon. You could see Lennon slowly helping Saint break his walls down and realizing he can love and be loved. He has a mouth on him and shows Lennon how she should be loved. They both found someone who saw them for who they are and not what others want to see them as.

✨ARC Review✨

5⭐ for The Bad Boy Rule by Maren Moore

So the one rule about bad boys is this: don't fall for him, and like Lennon, I did NOT follow this rule because I fell so hard for Saint I bruised my a*s on the way down.

The bad boy/good girl combo is a classic for a reason, and it was executed so well here, I was obsessed with these two right from the beginning.

Lennon is the quintessential good girl; listens to her parents, gets good grades, never gets into trouble, but she does have a slight rebellious streak to her and Saint was the match she needed to set it on fire.

Saint is tattooed, has a motorcycle, lives on the 'wrong side of the tracks' if you'll excuse my cliché, but he's also smart, hardworking, kind and has lived through so much I just wanted to hug him and make it all better. I was holding back tears, trying NOT to bawl my eyes out while reading about his trauma IN THE BREAK ROOM AT WORK, THANK YOU MAREN.

I should add, right before my almost-meltdown, we get hit with the double whammy of the hurt x comfort trope (my favorite!!) AND a "I didn't know where else to go" moment. *Melts into a puddle while screaming unintelligibly*

The chemistry, the banter, the slow burn...it all worked together to keep me turning pages while squealing and giggling, and the aforementioned crying. And because it's Maren, you know the spice is ~spicy~ and plentiful once that slow burn heats up, with the "teach me" trope thrown in too. *Fans self*

Add this to your tbr ASAP, you won't regret it!

Thank you so much to Maren Moore for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

The Bad Boy Rule was absolutely worth the wait! Saint and Lennon’s story had such great enemies to lovers/opposites attract/good girl & bad boy vibes and I enjoyed every page.

THOUGHTS 💭
⛸️ From the start, you know these characters are both going through some things. This is NOT a lighthearted hockey romance. This book discusses real, heartbreaking issues and is about MCs whose traumas bring them together. They become the calm in each others’ storms.
🏒 I looooooooove the good girl / bad boy trope and how the words “off-limits” becomes a challenge.
⛸️ The antagonistic relationship between these two turns into the BEST spice. Holy 🔥🔥🔥. There’s an elevator moment and a “teach me” moment and Saint has the dirtiest f*cking mouth and P H E W was it all SO HOT.
🏒 I love when the playboy who thinks he’ll NEVER settle down falls for the right person. Though he’d never have chosen Lennon for himself, once he gets to know her (and not just the perfect image she portrays to the world), I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for him.
⛸️ Our FMC Lennon is going through an awakening; she is becoming herself and not the person her parents want her to be. It felt freeing to read about her transition from “good girl” to girl who does whatever she chooses.

Thanks so much to Maren Moore and Valentine PR for the amazing ARC of this book!

Omg Maren is smashing it with these books!!! I thought Red Card was my favourite but I'm really not sure!

I absolutely devoured this one, I could not put it down! So freaking good!!!

I absolutely love the chemistry and connection between these two!

Bonding over their awful parents, I love how they don't let anything get in their way and when she chooses Saint, my heart just melted!!!

So so good!!!!

This was an unexpected delight to read. Don't get me wrong I always knew I would like the book but something about Saint had me questioning him a little at the beginning but he fell so hard for Lennon. He didn't really know what to do with himself and I loved it.

An absolute sweet story with so much trauma. Maren Moore knows how to emotionally tell a story while making it about as hot and steamy as possible! Dang!

This was such a great read! Lennon and Saint trauma bonded. I’m guilty of loving a good trauma bond. Saint’s home life I trash and he was the strongest and sweetest MMC. Lennon came from what seemed like a rich and fabulous life, but once her story is revealed, you see how bad it really was. I loved all the tropes in this book! Enemies to lovers, fake dating, touch her and 💀, sports romance…from the beginning to the end! Bravo Maren!!

This is the first in a series and I’m so excited to see where it goes! 👏🏻

"You know, before all this started, Maisie and I made a rule. Never fall for the bad boy..."
His lips curve into my favorite cocky smirk. "Then break the rules for me, baby."

Saint Devereaux grew up on the wrong side of town and has been working to help pay the bills since he was 14 years old and his father is unable to keep a job. Lennon Rousseau has been living a life that has been planned out by her father every step of the way. When the ice rink double books their skate time Lennon offers to give it up to Saint if he agrees to be her fake boyfriend to help her get back at her dad. Little does Lennon know, Saint also has his own reasons to want to get back at her father.

The Bad Boy Rule has EVERYTHING!! In typical Maren Moore fashion there is plenty of banter and spice, but she took this book even further drawing me in with one of the most emotional story lines I think she has written yet. Saint Devereaux is easily one of my favorite book boyfriends after reading this!
