It was fine. Nothing special. I didn't really like the art style. Overall a mediocre book. I wouldn't reread it in the future.

Set on Martha’s Vineyard, the summer a fictional movie titled “Shark!” is filmed. Gayle, injured after a bad play in a softball game, makes two new friends while making a film for a youth contest. They are trying to prove an island legend about a shark cult is true.

Jaws is one of my favorite movies. I really liked how the filming of it was the background for this story. Bruce the shark even gets to be part of the story. I, also appreciated that the author included a deaf character, while not a lot of attention is given to this, it is a nice nod to the fact that the island first European occupants were mostly deaf.

Great art and a great story. It took me a while to figure out that it was taking place in the past, though, so a year would have been nice. Overall, it was a great story about friendship, forgiveness, hard work, and making the best of a situation.
