I’m mostly reading these for the nostalgia factor. I haven’t read them since I was a teen myself, after which I got swept up in the whole ‘these are the worst things ever written’ thing. They’re not. They’re fine. If I hadn’t enjoyed them the first time around I’m not sure I’d have enjoyed them enough in rereading, but they’re not terrible. I don’t love Bella as a character, but hey, it’s not often you love every aspect of a book. It’s a bit of a relief to find that I don’t relate to her as much as I did when I was sixteen, though, I have to say that.

Ah Twilight...it’s been a good 15 years since I’ve read this book and, honestly, it’s been a fun reread for me. The love story is definitely intolerable and Edward is trash but I do love the setting of Forks and enjoyed the exploration of the vampire/werewolf myth. I also liked the thriller plot of the tracker hunting Bella. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this book if it wasn’t for the nostalgia resulting from reading it in my teen years but revisiting it now offered the fun escapism I wanted.
