Dorothy once more finds herself swept off to Oz, this time in the company of a drifter, a young boy who keeps getting lost, and the daughter of a rainbow.
There's really not much conflict in this story. Dorothy and company find themselves in fairy lands and begin walking to Oz. They meet a few people, have some small mishaps, and then show up at a party in the Emerald city, where they meet Santa. Like, really. They meet Santa Clause.
If you're still into the Oz series after four books, for sure keep going. But this is certainly not a stand-out in the series. But, then, I can't recall ANY stand-outs in the series.

Dorothy is really obnoxious in this book as are other characters. It's disappointing and I can't tell if I just didn't notice it in previous books or if it's just emerging now...
The fifth Oz story starts with Dorothy back in Kansas, but not for long, as she and Toto meet The Shaggy Man and soon find themselves traveling through several new fairy worlds on the way to Ozma's birthday party.
The jury's still out on the radio drama format of this edition, but overall, this was a delightful little Oz story. My kids are still loving listening to these.

Mi favorita de todas las historias de Oz. Final perfecto. Personajes que se robaron nuestro corazón, frases de oro, mi infancia. Definitivamente las historias de Oz son mis favoritas.
Um, really? These books are just getting weirder and more inconsistent...which is probably still good for young readers, but not so much for adults.
The rules keep changing, and are somehow different for some people than others. Animals can talk in fairy countries (except, of course for Toto, for some unknown reason). A bear-skin rug brought to life cannot speak because he has no lungs (yet the Pumpkin Head and Wooden Sawhorse brought to life by the same exact magic can speak...without lungs, tongues, lips, etc.).
And, um, Santa...really?
There's no moral or lessons to learn here (which was Baum's point to begin with...but...), characters are terribly opinionated, pretty rude, and quite vain.
But, at last, we finally get to travel by bubble. :)

Not my favorite of the books but I enjoyed the new characters. that being said I want to know more about several of them. a back story is hinted at for a couple characters but don't come to fruition...
