On first reading, I never understood the complexity and layering employed by Schlink to create this modern masterpiece. Just incredible.

Honestly, this was fine. It didn't blow me of my feet or really catch me, but it was a fast read and I felt that Micheal was often very relatable and I was able to sympathize with him sometimes. Like when he talked about action and determination in the beginning.
A little dry, but still touching. I first wanted to read this because the plot has a bit to do with the Holocaust (a topic that I am fascinated by). It was interesting enough for me to keep reading till the end, but certainly wasn't something I couldn't put down.
This book is an excellent story that illustrates the extreme negative impact of an adult female committing sexual offenses with a pseudo-consenting teenage boy.
