The last 10 pages ruined this book for me. It was going so great and then the storyline took a nose dive off a cliff. Literally how did Mica and Navarro get from a kiss in the lab to post sex in their bed; Brandermore breaking out, surprising them in their bedroom, and then being shot in less than 5 pages. And it left so many cliff hangers, who was the last spy who helped Brandermore escape, was Cassie's vision/feeling of Mica pregnant true, etc.

Neat idea regarding recessed genes and the unfairness of the mating heat. I would have cut out the parts with Brandenmore and just focused on the relationship (and Josiah's role).

Navarro's Promise
2 Stars

Quickie Review
This book is just BAD. Terrible editing, awful characterization and disjointed narration.

Navarro and Mica's romance is virtually non-existent except for the sex scenes (which are becoming exceedingly repetitive) and neither character is particularly interesting or likeable.

Leigh needs to get a move on with Cassie's story or I will fast be losing interest in the rest of the series.

I really want to explain myself as to why I gave this book only three stars.

You see, I have been waiting so long for a new Breeds book, I mean I’m in love with them, they own like this space in my Soul at this point, even for books that are supposed to be silly erotica and they say sweet cream a whole lot which snobby book readers rip apart. Anyways, I would just like to say that my I liked this book rating had nothing to do with the love story of Mica and Navarro. I loved them, like I literally loved every inch of who they were as characters. Mica made me laugh, I would have liked to see her poke more at Navarro to bring his inner beast out, but hey, the sex was hot so who am I to complain.

However, this is the book where Bradenmore was taken down in. That was the ultimate disappointment for me. I figured Leigh would not make it easy to find out what was injected into Amber, I knew that she would claim she gave more insight into Cassie and she really only gave us a closer look into her angst. Just a hint Lora, when we say we want more Cassie that means we want more a hint at who the hell her mate is! That doesn’t mean we really care all that much that her ‘fairy’ is missing for longer periods of time.

I can’t really dislike a Breed book, but I felt it was rushed. I think it needed more of that tension and more of Mica fighting for her man. That is just my opinion. I will never stop reading the Breeds, I will always love them deeply. But for the time I had to wait, God I wanted more, I wanted so much more Lora, please redeem us with Lawe’s book! Please give me more of Dog, I have a total attraction to him, I think it is the cigar and I think I see him as Hugh Jackman, who knows!

I just felt it didn’t totally please me. I don’t like admitting that, or even writing a negative review on the Breeds. But I feel this was a bit ranty, and I’m so against ranty reviews.

MISSING PAGES!!!!

After Mica is lured into the exam room and there's a confrontation with Bradenmore, who is behind a glass partition. Jonas, Navarro and Callan arrive to let her out of the locked exam room. Mica storms down the hall now that the exam room door has been unlocked. Navarro chases after her, kisses her against the wall and then tells her he loves her as they are cuddling in bed in the "afterglow". There is no mention of a) how they got from kissing in a hallway to being in a bed; b) where this bed is located; and c) what transpired to get them to the "afterglow" portion of the program. I had about 5 minutes of WTF as I kept going back and forth in my Kindle trying to figure out if it was glitching. Then I read several other reviews with the same complaint.

Mica, is protected by the breeds due to her relationship with them. Mica is then attacked when she is alone, and in danger, and there is no one that knows how much danger she is in. She is then attacked and on the run from council coyote breeds who are out to get her so they can kidnap her and use her as leverage...but then she is rescued by Navarro, whom even though he is unsure whether Mica is his lifemate wants her with a desperation and craves her like he has no other. Mica even though she wants Navarro, she knows they have no future because of the type of breed he is where he could never come to love her....since she doesn't know if he is even capable of such emotion.Navarro's Promise is the 24th in the Breed series by Lora Leigh. I have really loved this series....and I found that this was a exciting one....and having seen Navarro in previous books in the series...I have been looking forward to his story. What this story really boils down to is how we see Navarro who is suppose to be unable to feel unable to have emotion such as love...only he learns that Mica is the one who can change things for him. There was a dangerous element as well to the plot.....and the sensual side was very steamy...but defintiely a powerfully seduction read that will make you go wild!!!

Navarro and Mica's story ended up being my favorite Breed book in a long time. Lately it seems that they've been very similar and LL threw some nice twists and turns into this one. Both Navarro and Mica are typical of her characters in general, but for once I felt they were also something more. Very good story.

That being said the editing in this was horrible. Names, ages and descriptions changed from page to page. Then there's the issue at the very end. The book skips from Mica stalking down a corridor and Navarro grabbing her to them in bed after having done the deed with one of the villains just standing there. I feel that I missed a big part of the plot: who was the leak this time? What happened to Ely? Too many questions unanswered because there was a chunk of the damn book missing!

I really hope Ms. Leigh gets these issues corrected for future books.

An interesting twist to the Breed series... wondering what will happen next.
