The world was great, but I think I made the mistake of reading Stormlight first. I really enjoyed the Sanderlanche at the end but felt it was a long walk for a little drink of water. There was also a lot of "oh wow the main character is SO smart!" that felt like the author was patting himself on the back a bit. Again, it's a good book, I just made the mistake of reading the perfect series (Stormlight) before this.

Phenomenal. The only critique I have is the awkward romance subplot, but even still, I didn’t hate it. Hoping to see that fleshed out a little further in the second and third instalments. I cried, I laughed, I loved the fuck out of this book.

Vin is endearing and conflicted. I really enjoyed her shifting perspective throughout the book, as well as watching her learn the meaning of trust and love and family.

Kelsier is gripping and enchanting. I can feel his charisma through the pages. He had the best action scenes in the book, in my opinion, and I absolutely adored his light wit and kind heart.
He was perfection and I sobbed for him.

I never thought that I would be able to finish a fantasy book and be interested in the next part of the series. Although this has a slow start, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written. The main character is female, and the author does not sexualize her in anyway which I love.
