I'm struggling with how to rate this one, because the content of the story was really interesting and important but really it read like more of a biography than a fiction book. The whole story really was Hattie McDaniel's life with some of the details fleshed out and imagined, which was interesting, but there wasn't any real story arc or plot.

The audio was really well done and it was a very fascinating subject matter and well researched. If the topic is something you are interested in, I would highly recommend but would say that it reads more like non fiction than fiction.
