It was okay. I didn't love it, and I honestly had a hard time telling the characters apart, but the story is pretty interesting.

Scott Pilgrim Re-Read Day: Volume 2

WOW, this Volume takes everything that worked within the first cranked it up to 11 and improved upon its downfalls. Every character again is phenomenally built upon, and we begin to see Scott's character arch take shape. Also, what makes me love this Volume is the development of Knives (17 years old!) and the introduction of Envy. Both are my favourite characters within the series, and they really shined within this book.

Knives in particular, I always forget how bad-ass and crazy her character is in the graphic novels compared to the film. I also enjoyed the little backstory we get here, between Scott and Kim again it really does help to flesh out the characters and the world they're in. Favourite scene was hands down the fight between Ramona and Knives.

Again however, I still think we could have spent more time with Lucas (Ramona's Second Evil Ex) whilst he is built up as a threat, he is defeated so easily, to make room for the introduction of Envy and Todd. I will say that I think the film portrayed Lucas better, in particular the way in which he is defeated, with Scott basically playing into his fragile ego. But this is only a minor inconvenience which is rectified within the following Volumes.

Onto Volume 3!

very exciting! i love the cast & getting to know the characters better. this continues to be funny & lively & immensely readable - an addictive stick-in-my-mind series! though i can imagine how much more full it would be if it was in colour </3 the more i read the more i want to keep reading!!!

More r-slurs, fat phobic jokes, etc in this 2nd volume. Super disappointing.

Scott Pilgrim is a self absorbed goofball. His personality flaws seem to elevate in episode 2. I’ll keep going but I’m not holding out hope that things get any better.
