This was a charming romcom! Whilst the storyline was predictable and somewhat cliche, the cast of very engaging and authentic characaters gave this book a lot of heart. I was pleasantly surprised with how invested I became in the story and how much I enjoyed reading this.

This was cute! I sorta had the plot pegged from the beginning but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like watching it unfold. I was a little surprised by the mom revelation, and I liked that there was not real push to
turn Jasper into an asshole, just because Laura didn’t choose him

Gerry and Sandy also deserve a shoutout…actually, all the island characters were great!

This was rather cute but far too slow for me. I liked who the female lead ended up with - he was the best character in the book for me. There was a lot of random discussion of feminism shoehorned in which actually broke me out of the story as it was so unexpected.

Laura (the main character) is so annoying to me that I’m not enjoying the (so far totally predictable) story. She’s the kind of person who would do something completely over the line and then huff that you’d dare be upset about it. No thanks.

What an incredibly satisfying read. Also, THIS is how you handle a male love interest that is still married. Well done, Sophie Cousens.

For fans of Jenny Colgan and Beth O’Leary This is a story about family, love, and loss. Romance takes a backseat to a more in depth examination of family dynamics, histories, and the stories we tell ourselves, and how that impacts our lives. The beginning of the book started off fast paced and fun, and it just seemed to mellow out as you went along, getting more in-depth and serious. A good read if you’re looking for an easy, lighthearted summer read.

okay so this book. i feel like i may need to revisit it at some point, because i’m honestly not sure how to feel. the supporting characters were super detailed and had great personalities for the most part, but there were also quite a few characters i really just did not like, even though we were supposed to. however, ted and laura have my heart. laura is me. i am laura. i sent my friends so many screenshots of pages from this book because i have said some of the exact things laura has, so i really enjoyed following this journey of hers, it made me feel more comfortable in my own skin, so to speak. overall, it was a really cute book and an easy read with a happy ending, which i always love.
